    Fok Nie (maar dankie)

Another Afrikaans classic, Fok Nie ( maar dankie ).

There is something wonderful about the infinite politeness of Afrikaans people together with their unbelievable frankness. They things things like sorry wrong number, and I’m sorry for being late, even though they usual are, ( late ) [but not decease].

So this fraze really encapsulates it all.  Fuck no, but thanks for offering.

The opposite of Theo being of course Fok Ja, ( fuck yes ) and they say these thing with such heart and conviction, swearing in Afrikaans somehow seems to be less bad, more forgivable than in English. Since I’m official at least 3.6 / quarter Afrikaans I am as well own it.

    Headache Head

I don’t know if you are someone who suffers from megrains and headache, but. I can commiserate. There are only so many times one can go to work with headache Head. Before ones wants to lie down and admit defeat.

    Brigs.

    Ja - Nie ( yes -no )

In South Africa we have a saying, JA NIE.

In translation, it means yes - no.

Given today’s news, America pulls out of UN human rights commission and also the current trade war standoff possibly having massive global financial consequences. Really the Cuban missile crisis of the financial world.

Ja - Nie pretty much sums it up.
